At any Japanese festival (matsuri), the food stalls are always present, serving a large variety of traditional, popular foods such as yakitori, yakisoba, okonomiyaki, takoyaki, yaki imo (baked sweet potatoes), tayaki, salt grilled Ayu, dango, karaage, senbei or corn on the cob. There are also more recent and modern sweets such as choco banana, cotton candy, mizuame candied fruits, or lollipops.
Since festivals, besides their spiritual meaning, are also occasions for fun, you will also find stalls for popular games such as Kingyo Sukui, stalls selling simple toys or plastic masks, and of course, stalls selling traditional lucky charms…
